Cell Phone Security
Security, Technology No Comments »In these times of information age, one of the most widely used device nowadays is the cellphone. I remember when PCS (Personal Communication Services) technology was at its infancy, I used to be paying like $40 monthly for a 100 minute subscription. Not to mention the size of the phones.
Anyway, phone technology have grown tremendously just over the last few years with the advent of SMS (Short Messaging Service) or most widely called text messaging, internet messaging, photo, calendar, and most of all PDA functionality.
I chanced upon an article in Yahoo by David Bach regarding Cell Phone Security. David Bach in his article mentions about certain steps to cell phone theft. It surely is not foolproof but it is a good FYI.
I would not repeat what he mention in the article but at the basic, you should do this:
- If you will not be using your phone to call internationally, contact your service provider and block international calling.
- In the event of possible phone loss, call your cell phone provider and report the lost IMMEDIATELY.
- If your cellphone has PDA capability, don’t use it to write information that can be used to steal information from you, ie SSN, Bank Acct No., etc.
